Hi, I’m Jenni, founder and owner of Davidson Editing. As an educator with a passion for research, I have always found my love of scholarly writing an invaluable tool for navigating academia.
However, I know many students and professionals do not enjoy writing nearly as much as I do! After years of working as a K-12 school counselor in rural North Carolina and a student affairs administrator at Duke University, a colleague and friend recognized how helpful I was when she needed some assistance with her dissertation proposal and ended up hiring me to edit her entire dissertation. When she had a successful defense (which included praise for her editor), she suggested I start an editing business and here I am.
Since then, I have worked with dozens of graduate students and faculty members to help produce clear, well-written drafts of academic manuscripts prior to submission, defense, and/or publication. In addition to straightforward copyediting and style formatting, I have successfully worked with clients to organize and strengthen ideas within dissertations (both quantitative and qualitative), fine-tune grant proposals, polish tenure dossiers, bolster scholarship applications, and tweak publications for journal acceptance.
I love focusing on the details of a manuscript and have thoroughly enjoyed being able to support others who often want to put their academic energy into something besides worrying about those details. I also feel incredibly lucky that this job allows me to read the works-in-progress of many brilliant minds and learn along with them in the process.
